IIS is a global leader in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; advanced cybersolutions; weather and environmental solutions and information-based solutions for homeland security. Before her current role, Chappell was IIS vice president of Business Development and Strategy, where she was responsible for developing customer-focused strategies and partnering with customers and industry teammates to shape markets and drive growth. Previously, Chappell served as vice president of the Strategic Intelligence Systems (SIS) business unit. In a previous role as director of Business Development for SIS, she was responsible for leading, developing, coordinating and directing all existing and developing business growth and capture strategies. Chappell has more than 30 years of experience with Raytheon. She has progressed through various engineering and management positions, supporting a number of strategic customers. Chappell won the Raytheon CEO Leadership Award in 2008. Beginning in 2015, she joined the board of directors for Raytheon Australia Pty. Limited. She also served on the board of directors for Raytheon Systems Limited from 2008 to 2011. In addition, she is a member of the Western Kentucky University Business Executive Advisory Council. From 1999 to 2002, Chappell served as program manager for the Mission Integration and Development (MIND) Element development and systems engineering activities. From 1997 to 1999, she was senior lead on the MIND proposal. She received the Tim Moe award in 1999 for outstanding achievement in business development. Chappell began her career as a software engineer, progressing to hold lead positions in software and program management, where she was responsible for architecture design, and delivery of software programs and proposals. Chappell holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science from Western Kentucky University. She is a graduate of Raytheon’s Executive Leadership Summit.
